Streaming Media

Streaming media is audio and/or video fed continuously from server to client. This technology is most important for live webcasts, but is also used for pre-recorded content. Unlike standard file downloads, streams are played as they arrive. Subsequently there’s little wait to begin playing a file and, because nothing is saved to the local hard drive, streamed data has no lasting impact on system performance. Customers can choose not to make their content available for download by streaming it from their website, thus increasing site traffic and preventing unauthorised distribution.

In 1999 A & G formed partnerships with Windows and RealNetworks to ensure we can provide the high quality of media streaming that we offer today.

We have a server farm dedicated to hosting our media content. All streams are load balanced across several servers to ensure the best performance.
As part of our standard hosting package, all A & G customers have access to the Windows Media section of our streaming media farm. Due to the cost of licenses we are unable to include RealMedia.
